About the Department:
Department of Geography was introduced in the year 1974 with the establishment of Sardar Patel Memorial College, Udantpuri, Bihar Sharif as a constituent unit of Magadh University. This college carved from Magadh University, Bodh Gaya and becomes a constituent unit of Patliputra University in March 2018. Currently, the department offers only undergraduate course i.e., Bachelor of Arts in Geography (Honors). The department is equipped in cartography laboratory and other infrastructure necessary for conducting theory and practical classes.
Apart from the rich collection of books on geography in the main library, the Department also maintains its own library to provide reading material to its students. Classroom teaching is reinforced through project work, field trips, talks, and quizzes. The faculty of the Department is actively engaged in teaching as well as research activities.
Moreover, the department maintains its dedicated laboratory which has all the necessary instruments and equipment for geography practical. For its commencement, the department has two permanent faculties position which is expert in different aspects of geography. The geographical teaching is confined not only in classroom teaching and practical but also includes field trips and excursion.
