About the Department:

The Department of Chemistry in Sardar Patel Memorial College has been established since the setting up of the college in 1974. The main aims of the department are to imparting quality education to students coming from different backgrounds, especially to those who come from marginal sections of society. 1974 College was affiliated to Magadh University Bodh Gaya for Degree course.  B. Sc. in Chemistry in the department has been started on 30^th June 1975. In 23^rd September of 1980, the college became a constituent unit of  Magadh University and was registered in sec(2f) of UGC Act, 1956 in 1983, letter no. F.8-66/8f (CP), dated 28 June 1983. Now it is a constituent unit of Patliputra University from 18^th March 2018.

The Department of Chemistry is supported by energetic faculty members and state-of-the-art teaching facilities. The faculty members of the department are committed to quality teaching.  The department has laboratory and infrastructure for conducting theory and practical classes properly. The faculty of the department is actively engaged in teaching as well as research activities and organize test series from time to time. The department offers UG course – B.Sc. (Honours & Subsidiary).

As it is well known, all work and no play is not a good idea. While we work hard, we also let our hair down and enjoy ourselves in cultural activities, sports, and picnic. We treat students as peers, in work and beyond. Alumni are important stakeholders in our department.
